Nana Patekar: Goa Police File Unnatural Death Case

Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case following the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar at his residence in Dona Paula on October 8.
The 75-year-old actor suffered a cardiac arrest in the early hours of Thursday. He was brought dead to Manipal Hospital in Bambolim between 4:20 and 4:30 a.m., where doctors declared him dead at 5:20 a.m.
Dr Shekhar Salkar of Manipal Hospital said the medical team performed CPR for about 45 minutes but could not revive him. A post-mortem was conducted at Goa Medical College.
Panaji Police registered the case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. PSI Nitin Naik is leading the inquiry, which officials described as standard procedure.
Such cases are routinely filed when a person is brought dead to a hospital, to rule out foul play. Patekar's son Malhar said his father's work and ideals would live on.
The actor was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village near Pune on Thursday night.
