Karan Johar Lines Up Expanded 2028 Theatrical Slate

Karan Johar is expanding Dharma Productions' theatrical slate for 2028, according to a Bollywood Hungama scoop published on October 5. The lineup reportedly includes films on R&AW founder R.N. Kao, the mythological superhero spectacle Gadadhari Bheem, Radha Krishna, and Kartik Aaryan's next project.
The R.N. Kao film, announced on September 21 to mark 58 years of R&AW, is based on Nitin Gokhale's book Gentleman Spymaster. The untitled espionage drama, co-produced with Leo Media Collective, is set for release on August 11, 2028, during the Independence Day weekend. The cast and director have not been announced.
Separately, an October 5 report said Abhishek Varman will direct Gadadhari Bheem for Dharma, described as a modern mythological superhero spectacle.
Karan Johar said of the Kao project: "Leo Media has painstakingly been researching and dramatising this narrative with passion for the past two years. We want this film to be a gripping story based on true facts to pay homage to RAW." Dharma previously collaborated with Leo Media on Bad Newz and Kesari: Chapter 2.
