Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has cleared the censor board with a U/A 16+ certificate. The film's runtime has been locked at 165 minutes and 18 seconds.

The certification marks a key milestone ahead of the film's theatrical release on October 15, 2026. The date coincides with the Dussehra festive period.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel brings Rajinikanth back as the iconic character Muthuvel Pandian. The first film released in 2023 and was a major hit.

The sequel features an expanded cast. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, S.J. Suryah, Vidya Balan and Mohanlal are part of the ensemble. Anirudh Ravichander returns as music composer.

The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. With certification done, the team is now focused on final promotions.

At 165 minutes, the sequel is slightly shorter than its predecessor, which ran about 168 minutes.

The makers recently dismissed rumours of a delay and confirmed the October 15 date with a fresh poster. The film is set for a Thursday release to take advantage of the extended festive weekend.

Trade watchers expect a massive opening given the first part's success and the festive timing.
