NMC Releases 63,177 NEET PG Seats for 2026-27

The National Medical Commission has released the postgraduate seat matrix for the 2026-27 academic year. The matrix lists 63,177 seats for MD, MS, diploma, DM and MCh courses.
Of the total, 33,088 seats are in government institutions, 21,892 in private colleges and 8,197 in deemed universities. The matrix covers 645 colleges and 10,756 course-wise entries.
Karnataka tops the state list with 8,323 seats. Maharashtra follows with 6,992, Tamil Nadu with 6,306 and Uttar Pradesh with 6,082.
The NMC has clarified that the matrix does not include applications for increased intake in existing courses or for new courses that are still awaiting approval. Those will be added in an updated matrix later.
Candidates should note that the 63,177 figure covers the NMC pool alone. The Union government has separately reported 86,360 postgraduate medical seats across India, combining NMC and NBEMS data. The two figures cover different seat pools and should not be added together.
