Maharashtra ends MPSC secretary Harpalkar’s deputation

Mumbai, Oct 3 — The Maharashtra General Administration Department has terminated the deputation of MPSC Secretary Mahendra Uttamrao Harpalkar.
The order came after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met a delegation of protesting MPSC aspirants on Wednesday. Aspirants have alleged paper leaks and irregularities in commission exams.
Fadnavis had promised an immediate transfer to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry. The government also ordered a judicial inquiry into the functioning of MPSC office-bearers and members within three months.
The Chief Minister assured candidates that recruitment exams will continue in the traditional offline format. A three-year recruitment roadmap will be released within a month.
Chairman Vivek Bhimanvar remains in his post. Fadnavis said removing the chairman needs a Supreme Court inquiry under Article 317 of the Constitution. Student organisations have suspended their planned agitation. Officials said the judicial inquiry will examine the roles of office-bearers and members. A record Group C recruitment push and new cadre rules are also planned.
