Rajnath launches digital push on DAD’s 279th Annual Day

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on October 1 launched a series of digital and financial management initiatives as the Defence Accounts Department marked its 279th Annual Day in New Delhi.
Singh launched the integration of the Indian Army Financial Information System with the department’s SAKSHAM platform. The integration enables digital transmission of budget, sanction and bill information and paperless processing of bills.
He also launched the revamped National Compilation System, a single source for accounting defence expenditure across the country. The Treasury Single Account system for the Defence Ministry was operationalised through the PRISM platform, integrated with the RBI’s eKUBER system for just-in-time release of funds.
The minister urged the department to move from an Annual Review of Balance Budget to an Any Time Review of Balance Budget. He called for automation of grievance redressal through conversational AI and early implementation of the SAMPURNA automated procurement system.
Singh also presented the Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence 2026. The DAD traces its origins to the appointment of the Military Pay Master in 1747.
