Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has signed a Rs 2,491 crore memorandum of understanding with SkyPulse IFSC for the supply of 30 helicopters for civil and government use.

The agreement, signed on September 28, covers a phased delivery. The first phase will see 10 helicopters delivered between 2027 and 2029, while the remaining 20 will be supplied from 2030 onward.

The helicopters are intended for mission-critical civil operations, including emergency medical services, search and rescue, regional air connectivity under the UDAN scheme, and pilgrimage routes. Officials said the deal strengthens India's civil aviation ecosystem.

Industry watchers described the agreement as one of the largest civil helicopter deals involving an Indian manufacturer. The partnership is expected to create maintenance and training jobs and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers for civil rotorcraft.

HAL officials said the deal shows growing confidence in Indian-made aircraft for civil roles. The company has been expanding its civil helicopter business alongside its defence orders in recent years. Training and maintenance facilities for the fleet will be set up in India.
