Zydus Launches First Riociguat Generic in US
Zydus Pharmaceuticals has launched the first generic of Adempas in the US. The drug is Riociguat, made by MSN Laboratories.
It is approved by the USFDA in all five strengths. These are 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.5 mg, 2 mg and 2.5 mg tablets.
Riociguat treats chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. It also treats pulmonary arterial hypertension. Both are serious forms of high blood pressure in the lungs.
Bayer’s Adempas had global sales of about $850 million in 2025. A generic launch opens a large market for Zydus.
MSN Laboratories developed and manufactured the drug. It is the first approved generic in the US.
Zydus announced the launch on October 5. Sharvil Patel said the launch supports the company’s US growth.
