Groww Rolls Out US Stocks to Select Users via GIFT City

Groww has begun rolling out US stock investing to select users through the GIFT City route, opening a long-awaited feature for Indian investors.
The phased launch offers access to more than 10,000 US stocks and ETFs, including fractional investing, via a partnership with Alpaca, reports said. Users can invest in dollars under the liberalised remittance scheme framework.
The rollout follows regulatory nods that also cover rivals like Zerodha and Angel One, setting up a new battleground in Indian broking. Groww is starting with a limited user set before a wider release.
For investors, the feature brings global diversification to the same app they use for mutual funds and Indian equities. Currency conversion and tax rules will apply as per norms.
The company has not given a timeline for full availability. Industry watchers say pricing and ease of use will decide the winner in the US-investing race. The company indicated the phased rollout will expand based on early user feedback.
