Ukraine has delivered about four tonnes of food by drone to the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky, Kherson regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on September 27. The aid was dropped at 100 locations across the city and nearby villages.

About 2,000 residents remain in Oleshky, where Ukrainian officials say Russian forces have blocked food supplies since May. Residents have reported surviving on thin vegetable soups and foraged weeds. Drone food deliveries have been running since March, coordinated with units including the 30th Marine Corps and the 34th Borysfen brigade, Prokudin said.

"This aid will give people the opportunity to live there for up to a month," Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, deputy head of the Kherson military administration, told CBC News. He said drone footage confirmed some residents had received the packages, but warned the relief could be short-lived.

Prokudin accused Russian troops of shooting down aid drones, seizing food parcels and detaining residents who accept aid. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha raised the crisis at the UN General Assembly this week. With no evacuation corridor agreed, Kyiv says drone drops remain the only way to reach trapped civilians.
