India Post GDS: 23,757 posts filled by merit, list awaited
India Post's mega recruitment for 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak posts has closed applications, and candidates now await the merit list.
The official notification, numbered 17-12/2026-GDS, covered Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster and Dak Sevak posts across postal circles. Registration ran from August 31 and applications closed on September 21.
There is no written exam and no interview. Selection is purely on a system-generated merit list based on Class 10 marks, making it one of the most accessible government job openings for 10th-pass candidates.
Applicants needed to be between 18 and 40 years old, with Maths and English in Class 10. The pay ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 29,380 per month.
A correction window was open on September 23 and 24. The merit list and document verification schedule will be announced on the official portal.
The merit list will be published on the official India Post portal. Selected candidates will be engaged as Gramin Dak Sevaks in their chosen postal divisions.
