Punjab seeks extradition of 14 from UK in e-visa racket

Punjab Police has started the process to bring back 14 people from Britain in connection with an alleged international human-trafficking racket involving forged e-visas and employment documents. The Bureau of Investigation is leading the effort, officials said.
Investigators allege the 14 travelled from Amritsar to London about nine months ago using forged digital immigration documents. They later sought asylum in the United Kingdom. The group is suspected to be part of a wider racket that arranged travel on fake papers.
Warrants have been issued against the accused. Punjab Police now plans to seek legal assistance from British authorities to complete the extradition process.
The case comes amid a wider crackdown by Punjab Police on organised crime networks operating abroad. The force has in recent months secured the return of several fugitives from countries including Moldova, the UAE, the United States and Malaysia. The Bureau of Investigation is coordinating with central agencies, and officials said the legal process in Britain could take several months.
