Delhi launches 24×7 AI command centre to fight winter pollution

Delhi has launched an AI-based Integrated Command and Control Centre to fight air pollution. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the facility on October 1. It is housed at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s IT Park in Shastri Park.
The centre will operate round the clock during the winter pollution season. It uses artificial intelligence, CCTV cameras and GPS tracking. It will monitor more than 700 construction sites covering over 500 square metres.
The system will alert departments and site owners when PM10 dust levels rise. It will also track mechanical road-sweeping machines and air-quality stations. Rapid-action teams called Vayu Rakshaks will investigate local sources like garbage burning.
Gupta said the approach follows the principle of Detect, Analyse, Act, Verify. The centre integrates complaints, inspection records and air-quality data. It is part of Delhi’s Winter Action Plan. Construction activity will be banned from November, and non-Delhi vehicles below BS-VI standards face restrictions.
