HackerRank makes AI interviewer Chakra generally available

HackerRank has made Chakra, its AI interviewing agent, generally available after roughly six months of beta testing. The company says the agent conducted more than 500,000 interviews during the beta.
Chakra conducts the interview itself: candidates work on tasks tied to a real code repository in a canvas with an embedded AI assistant. The agent observes the workflow, asks follow-up questions, and delivers a structured report to hiring teams.
HackerRank says Chakra assesses not just answers but how candidates think, judge AI output and steer problem-solving. Early testers included Snowflake, Snorkel and Capgemini.
The launch is aimed at collapsing the recruiter screen, take-home test and live interview into one session. HackerRank says suspicious-activity flags fell 70-80 per cent versus traditional assessments, while final hiring decisions remain with humans.
The AI watches candidates work in a real repository canvas. It asks contextual follow-ups on their approach. Hiring teams get both a score and a narrative of the candidate’s reasoning.
