Rohit Sharma Joins Elite 12,000 ODI Run Club at 39

Rohit Sharma has joined one of cricket’s most exclusive clubs. The 39-year-old passed 12,000 runs in one-day internationals during India’s chase against the West Indies in Guwahati.
He is the third Indian to reach the mark after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Only seven batters in history have done it. He got there in 282 innings, the second-fastest ever after Kohli’s 242.
Rohit celebrated the milestone with a century, his 35th in ODIs. His 101 off 75 balls, with 10 fours and six sixes, set up India’s record 406-run chase alongside Shubman Gill’s double century.
He reached the landmark with a single off Roston Chase in the 16th over. He is also the second-fastest to the mark by balls faced, after Kohli.
He also became the first batter to hit 200 sixes in a single country. At 39, he shows no signs of slowing down.
His 290-match career has brought more than 12,000 runs with 35 centuries and 62 half-centuries. Few openers have dominated world cricket like him.
