India Clinch ODI Series After Record 406-Run Chase vs West Indies

India have clinched the ODI series against the West Indies after one of the greatest chases in cricket history. They hunted down 406 to win the second ODI in Guwahati by eight wickets.
The West Indies posted 405 for 7, their highest ODI total ever. Brandon King made 101. Shai Hope hit 104 off 94 balls. Amir Jangoo smashed 114 off 77. It looked like a winning score.
India’s openers had other ideas. Captain Shubman Gill hit an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls. Rohit Sharma made 101 off 75. Their 255-run opening stand broke the back of the chase.
India reached the target with 39 balls to spare. The win gives India an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. They won the first ODI in Vadodara by 23 runs.
Gill’s innings was the fastest double century in ODI history, off 117 balls, and the highest score in a chase. The 27-year-old is being talked about as the future of Indian batting.
The third and final ODI is in New Chandigarh on October 3. India will aim for a clean sweep.
