12-year-old’s diaper drive delivers 30,000 diapers in Arizona

A 12-year-old girl in Arizona has delivered 30,000 diapers to a food bank, the result of her fifth annual diaper drive.
Sloan started the drive at age seven after volunteering at Nourish Phoenix and noticing the diaper shelves were bare. Diapers are among the most requested items at the food bank, and assistance programmes like SNAP do not cover them.
This year she set a target of 22,500 diapers. Donations poured in until boxes filled her family’s home, and by the end of August she had collected 30,000. A U-Haul truck carried the load to the food bank.
According to the National Diaper Bank Network, roughly one in three US families struggles to afford enough diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy.
‘If we have the ability to give someone something that they might not have or need, it’s really important to do that,’ Sloan told ABC 15.
