Mixed archery gold for India, plus a Los Angeles 2028 quota

Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav have won the mixed compound team gold for India at the Asian Games 2026 — and secured a quota place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics in the process.
The pair’s victory adds to India’s golden run in archery at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, where the women’s compound team also struck gold against China.
In compound archery, mixed teams pair one male and one female archer, alternating shots at 50 metres. India has invested heavily in the discipline, and the results at the continental level have been consistently strong.
The LA28 quota is an early and valuable prize: Olympic qualification spots earned this far out give athletes and coaches a long runway to prepare.
India’s archery contingent will look to add more medals in the remaining individual and team events. The country’s overall Games tally stands at 60 medals, including 10 gold, as of October 1.
