New Delhi: Students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology won two silver medals and a Medallion of Excellence at WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai, held from September 23 to 26. The results were announced on September 29.

Kovid Ajay Gangrade won silver in Digital Interactive Media Design, while Saniya Joshi took silver in Retail Sales. Vidhi Niravkumar Suthar earned a Medallion of Excellence in Fashion Technology.

India finished 10th overall at the global skills competition, with six silver medals and 20 Medallions of Excellence across trades. The performance highlights the growing strength of India's vocational training ecosystem.

NIFT officials congratulated the winners, saying the medals reflect the institute's focus on industry-ready skills. The competition, often called the Olympics of skills, saw participation from dozens of countries.

The medals continue India's upward trajectory at WorldSkills, where the country's tally has grown steadily across recent editions. The next edition of the competition will be watched closely as India bids to break into the top ranks.
