Vijay Sethupathi's Tamil action drama Baththa has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, clearing the way for its worldwide theatrical release on October 1, 2026.

The certification was confirmed by A For Apple Studios, director Atlee's production house, on social media.

Written and directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, the film stars Sethupathi alongside Lijomol Jose. It is presented by Star Studio18 and Atlee, and produced by Cine1 Studios and A For Apple Studios.

Panorama Studios and Zee Studios have joined hands for the film's international theatrical push, betting on the growing global audience for rooted Indian regional cinema.

The trailer presents Baththa as a near-mythical figure in his community – children swap tales of his feats, from breaking a man's ribs to keeping a lion as a pet. Away from the legend, he is shown as a gentle family man.

The film is set in the eighties, with music by Sai Abhyankkar and cinematography by Selva Kumar S.K.

Baththa releases the day before Drishyam: The Conclusion, setting up a busy first week of October for Indian cinema.
