The India release of the Korean sci-fi thriller HOPE has been pushed from September 25 to October 23, 2026, to allow time for certification.

The English version has been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification without any cuts, while certification of the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions is underway.

The film is being released in India through Star Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Its worldwide release continues through November, with openings in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland this week, followed by Argentina, Germany, France and Spain.

Directed by Na Hong-jin, known for The Chaser, The Yellow Sea and The Wailing, the film is set in a remote port town where the discovery of an unidentified object triggers a mysterious and dangerous chain of events.

It features an ensemble cast led by Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Kitsch.

HOPE premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival on May 17. It has crossed USD 7 million at the US box office, making it the highest-grossing Korean film in the United States.

The delay gives Indian distributors time to complete the certification process for all language versions.
