Birla Studios and Neelam Studios on September 30 announced that the Tamil film Makkal Kaavalan, starring K. Manikandan, will release in cinemas worldwide on December 4, 2026.

The date was unveiled on the actor's birthday, with the makers also sharing a celebratory video of colleagues recalling memories and wishing Manikandan.

Written and directed by Santhosh Kumar, the film follows a simple man determined to live with dignity until a corrupt system leaves him with only two choices: surrender or resist. As the battle intensifies, an ordinary man gradually transforms into a protector of the people.

Manikandan stars in the titular role alongside Vaagai Chandrasekar, A. Venkatesh, R.K. Vijaymurugan, Shanmugam Muthusamy, Sabumon Abdusamad and Unni Maya.

The film is jointly produced by Birla Studios and Pa Ranjith's Neelam Studios, with music by Nivas K Prasanna.

It marks Manikandan's next project after the commercial successes of Good Night, Lover and Kudumbasthan, a run that has made him one of Tamil cinema's most dependable leading actors.

The makers say the story is about the courage to dream beyond limits and the tenacity to keep climbing until those limits cease to matter.
