Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a 25-page open letter addressed to the American people, urging US voters to oppose President Donald Trump and his administration's war policies ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi read the letter at a press conference in Tehran on September 29.

The letter, titled an appeal to 'the honourable people of the United States of America', claims that the Trump administration's war against Iran has failed to achieve its stated objectives, including curtailing Tehran's nuclear programme. It accuses Washington of misleading Americans about the conflict and urges voters to reject support for Israel and foreign wars.

Mohebbi said he did not expect the message to change the administration's behaviour, but hoped it would reach voters. The appeal comes as Iran's currency fell to a record low of more than 2.5 million rials to the dollar, reflecting the economic strain of the conflict now in its seventh month.
