An Indian student team has won recognition for a robotic firefighting system at the World Robot Olympiad STEM Entrepreneur Program in Hyderabad on September 29.

Twenty teams from 13 countries pitched their robotics ideas to entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders at the WRO STEM Entrepreneur Program, powered by strategic partner Aramco. The winning teams receive project funding and six-month mentorship to develop their solutions.

The Indian winner, Navrachana Vidyani, built a robotic firefighting system designed to detect and respond to fires while reducing the need for people to enter hazardous environments.

Other winners included Project CARED from the Philippines, an integrated patient-monitoring system designed to automate routine measurements and reduce repetitive work for nurses, and Mini-Ibot Innovators from Italy, a tactile art tablet enabling blind and visually impaired people to create and experience art through touch and sound.

The programme is a new initiative to bridge STEM education and entrepreneurship, giving students the chance to defend how their technologies work and how they would take their solutions from the competition arena to the market.
