OpenAI unveiled more than 20 launches at its DevDay 2026 keynote on September 29, headlined by GPT-6.1 Sol, a new model positioned as near-flagship intelligence for agentic work at a fifth of the flagship’s price.

GPT-6.1 Sol upgrades the GPT-6 Sol released a week earlier. OpenAI says it nearly matches GPT-6 Astra’s intelligence on agentic coding, computer use and professional work at one-fifth of Astra’s standard token prices: $2 per million input tokens, $0.10 for cached input and $10 per million output tokens. It is available now in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users, but not yet in regular Chat.

The keynote also introduced Dots, persistent personal agents that handle ongoing work, with OpenAI working with Microsoft to manage them in Agent 365. ChatGPT Space is a shared workspace where teams and agents collaborate on projects, documents and presentations.

For developers, Codex moved fully into the cloud, so coding tasks continue after laptops close. The Agents API entered public beta with computer use and multi-agent capability, and Amazon launched Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI. A new Pro 500 subscription and an Astra Ultrafast speed tier were also announced.
