Gold, Silver Stay Weak After Selloff on Strong Dollar

Gold and silver prices stayed under pressure as selling continued after the sharp fall on September 28. A stronger US dollar and rising Treasury yields kept buyers away.
The dollar index held firm as investors bet that American interest rates would stay higher for longer. Higher yields raise the cost of holding gold, which pays no interest.
Silver followed gold lower, as it often does during broad selloffs in precious metals. Industrial demand worries added to the weakness in silver.
Indian buyers watched the move closely, as domestic prices track global rates along with the rupee. Jewellers said footfall was mixed, with some buyers waiting for lower levels.
Traders will now watch US economic data and central bank signals for direction. Prices quoted are for current contracts and may change through the trading day. Analysts say the next big trigger will be the US Federal Reserve’s meeting. Any hint of rate cuts could bring buyers back, while a hawkish tone may extend the fall.
