The India Meteorological Department on Monday forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds across multiple regions. The active weather spell is expected to affect large parts of the country.

According to the forecast, isolated heavy rain is likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other northern and eastern states. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in the northeast.

The south-peninsula outlook points to isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and adjoining areas over the coming days. The southwest monsoon is in its withdrawal phase across northern India.

Authorities have advised residents to follow local weather updates and avoid waterlogged areas. The IMD said the forecast could change as weather systems evolve.

Fishermen have been advised to stay alert along affected coasts. State disaster teams are on standby in regions expecting very heavy rainfall, and people should avoid travel during intense downpours. The public should stay tuned to official advisories.
