Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid foundation stones for 53 development projects worth Rs 214.12 crore in unauthorised colonies on Sept 27, 2026. The launch is part of the Seva Sankalp campaign.

The package covers 1,062 roads and lanes in 27 unauthorised colonies across Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela and Nangloi Jat. It includes about 89.82 km of roads and about 147.69 km of drainage, and the government says around 1.75 lakh people will benefit.

Kirari gets the largest share: 27 works worth Rs 105.51 crore across 14 colonies. Bawana gets 9 works worth Rs 38.83 crore, Mundka 5 works worth Rs 22.05 crore, Narela 4 works worth Rs 14.48 crore and Nangloi Jat 8 works worth Rs 33.25 crore.

Gupta said roads, drains and sewerage are basic rights of citizens and that development is being done in a planned manner. MP Yogendra Chandolia, ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood and Ravindra Indraj Singh, and several MLAs attended the event.

Why it matters: the projects target long-neglected unauthorised colonies, and their completion will be the real test of the announcement.
