After the successful GSLV-F17/EOS-05 launch on September 4, ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan said six more launches are planned this fiscal year, including the navigation satellite NVS-03. He said India’s first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission is progressing ‘vigorously and systematically’ and is targeted for launch within this calendar year.

Narayanan said EOS-05 has an operational lifetime of nine years and is dedicated to earth observation, serving agriculture, forestry, urban planning and disaster management. He dismissed speculation that it was a spy satellite, according to Indian Defence News.

Earlier, in July 2026, ISRO had targeted seven launches this fiscal, with the next mission within two months. Two satellites were fully built and five to six were in final integration stages, the ISRO chief said.

The second launch complex at Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu was expected to be commissioned within about six months, BusinessLine reported. ISRO’s 2026 manifest remains one of its busiest, with the uncrewed Gaganyaan flight the most-watched test of the human spaceflight programme’s timeline.
