Israel on Sunday revoked the diplomatic status of Dutch diplomats at the Netherlands' Representative Office in Ramallah. Israel's Foreign Ministry said the diplomats must return their Israeli-issued diplomatic documents within seven days, after which their privileges and immunities expire, Reuters reported.

The move responds to the Dutch government's ban on imports of products from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, which came into force last week. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar posted on X that any country that acts in a hostile and unilateral manner against Israel will lose influence and relevance in the region. The Dutch Foreign Ministry declined to comment.

The ministry said that if the Netherlands wants to keep representing its interests with the Palestinians, it can do so from Palestinian Authority territory rather than relying on Israeli arrangements. The step follows a series of Israeli retaliatory measures, including the removal of Dutch diplomats from a US-led Gaza coordination centre last month.

The revocation deepens a diplomatic rift between Israel and a European ally over trade restrictions tied to settlement policy.
