A strong nor’easter brought flooding and power outages across the US Northeast this weekend. More than 100,000 homes and businesses lost power at one point on Saturday, September 26. The storm hit the East Coast from Washington, D.C., to Maine.

As of 9:37 p.m. ET Saturday, more than 73,000 customers in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania were still without power, according to PowerOutage.com. New York and Connecticut each had more than 20,000 outages.

Earlier in the day, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey had a combined total of more than 100,000. Flooding struck parts of New Jersey from Bergen County in the north to Cape May County in the south. Some Jersey Shore communities issued voluntary evacuations.

MetLife Stadium postponed AC/DC’s Friday concert to October 2. FlightAware reported 445 flights canceled on Saturday at US airports, with 3,016 delayed. The National Weather Service warned of coastal flooding, rip currents, strong wind gusts, and heavy rain through Monday.

The governors of New York and New Jersey declared states of emergency on Friday. Connecticut’s governor activated the state’s Emergency Operations Center.
