Bath opened their Gallagher PREM title defence with a 33-17 win over Harlequins at The Stoop on September 25, but one moment stole the night.

Argentina international Santi Carreras intercepted a pass from Harlequins’ Tyrone Green in the 33rd minute. He kicked the ball up with his boot, caught it one-handed and raced the length of the pitch to score under the posts.

Former England scrum-half Danny Care, commentating on the game, called it the “try of the season” after only the first round. Bath head coach Johann van Graan described the score as “pure magic” and joked that the club now needs an Enzo Fernandez song for Carreras.

Dan du Preez, Joe Cokanasiga, Dan Frost and Ewan Richards also crossed for Bath, with Finn Russell adding four conversions. Harlequins replied through Will Porter, Chandler Cunningham-South and Pedro Delgado.

The win gives Bath a perfect start as they begin their bid to win back-to-back league titles.
