Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5, Its Cheapest Model Yet

Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, which it calls the cheapest, fastest and most capable small model it has ever released.
Released on October 7, the model costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for prompts up to 100,000 tokens, about 90% less per token than Haiku 4.5.
It keeps a 1 million token context window and up to 128,000 output tokens, and is the first Haiku with an adjustable effort setting for reasoning.
Anthropic says it runs around 75% cheaper on average than Haiku 4.5, since about 90% of requests to the older model stayed under 100,000 tokens.
The model is available on the Claude API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry, and targets high-volume work like summaries, classification and subagents.
The launch completes Anthropic's three-model Claude 5.5 lineup after Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5.
