ISRO marks World Space Week with student outreach

ISRO centres across Kerala celebrated World Space Week from October 4 to 10. This year’s theme is “Rocket Revolution”. The space agency held programmes aimed at school and college students.

Units including VSSC, LPSC, IISU and IIST organised talks, exhibitions and model-rocket events. Scientists spoke to students about careers in space research. A public event is planned at the Thiruvananthapuram museum on October 10.

Port Blair hosted space week events on October 6 and 7. Officials said the aim is to take space science beyond big cities. Students got to see satellite models and meet working scientists face to face.

ISRO said such outreach builds interest in science at an early age. The agency plans to expand the programme to more states next year. Officials said similar events will be held in more cities next year. The agency said inspiring young minds is key to its future missions. Schools can contact ISRO centres to host such events.

World Space Week is observed globally every October. India has been marking it with growing scale each year.
