Heavy rain likely in southern states, Uttarakhand today

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in southern states and Uttarakhand on Friday, October 9. Delhi is expected to stay largely dry.

Southern states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh may see intense showers through the day. Uttarakhand could also receive heavy rainfall, with hill regions on alert for landslides.

The forecast comes as the monsoon withdraws from northern India. Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are likely to see only light rain or dry weather, according to weather bulletins.

Residents in rain-hit areas should avoid waterlogged roads and stay updated on local advisories. Hill travellers in Uttarakhand should check road conditions before starting journeys.

The showers may bring brief relief from heat in the south, but they could also disrupt traffic in cities. More rain is expected over the weekend in coastal regions.

The IMD has also advised fishermen along the southern coasts to stay ashore. Rough seas are expected over the next two days. State disaster teams are on standby in vulnerable districts.
