Delhi Metro to shut gates at 57 stations from 9 PM Friday

Entry and exit gates at 57 Delhi Metro stations will stay closed from 9 PM on Friday, October 9, until further notice. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced the move on Friday.
The closure covers Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Janpath, Mandi House, ITO, Supreme Court, Chandni Chowk and other busy stations. Interchange will remain available at all affected stations except New Delhi station.
The step follows a Delhi Police request ahead of a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10. Police cited the risk of unruly movement toward sensitive locations. Train frequency at the listed stations may also be cut on Saturday.
Section 163 is in force across Delhi. Two colleges have postponed Saturday exams, and some schools moved classes online. Railways has also cancelled mail and express trains to New Delhi and Nizamuddin stations between 4 AM and 2 PM on Saturday.
Commuters should plan alternate routes and check station status before travelling this weekend.
