KL Rahul Wants India’s Middle Order to Target 370-380 in ODIs

KL Rahul says India are aiming to push first-innings ODI totals to between 370 and 380 runs as part of their build-up to the 2027 World Cup.
The wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten 129 off 87 balls in the third ODI against the West Indies on October 4. India posted 351, but the visitors chased down 352 to avoid a series sweep. India still won the three-match series 2-1.
“The goal so far has been about whether we can score 330-340 while batting first, but we are seeing that 340s and 350s get chased down very easily,” Rahul said on JioStar. He wants set batters to press on to 370, 380 or even 400.
Rahul said scoring against the older ball is the key challenge, with reverse swing making it harder to clear long boundaries. He is working on hitting sixes with the softer ball and rotating strike to find a boundary every six or seven balls.
