Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh One-Off Test Begins In Abu Dhabi
Afghanistan take on Bangladesh in a one-off Test at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from Friday, October 9. The five-day match begins at 11:30 am IST and is hosted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
The game marks the start of Rahmat Shah’s tenure as Afghanistan’s Test captain after he replaced Hashmatullah Shahidi following a heavy defeat to India earlier this year. Afghanistan have reshaped their spin attack, retaining Qais Ahmad and recalling Zia-ur-Rehman.
Bangladesh arrive with momentum after a historic Test win in Darwin on their Australia tour. Towhid Hridoy, who struck an unbeaten 352 for Bangladesh A against South Africa A, is one to watch, while Litton Das’s form is a concern.
The sides have met twice in Tests, winning once each — Afghanistan by 224 runs in Chattogram in 2019, Bangladesh by 546 runs in Dhaka in 2023. Bangladesh want a win ahead of crucial World Test Championship assignments.
