Claude now works inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

Anthropic has brought Claude inside Google Workspace, with a new add-on that works directly in Docs, Sheets and Slides.
Announced on October 6, Claude for Google Workspace is in public beta on all paid Claude plans. It opens as a sidebar next to the open file, so users do not need to switch apps.
Claude can read the document, sheet or deck on screen, see what the user has selected, and make changes directly in the file. In the default "Ask before edits" mode, each change appears as an approval card. An "Accept all edits" mode applies changes without stopping.
In Sheets, Claude can write formulas, build pivot tables and charts, and use Python to clean or merge data. In Slides, it can build new slides from the deck's own layouts and check for overlapping or unreadable text.
Anthropic also released beta connectors that let Claude create and edit Google files from a Claude chat. The add-on installs from the Google Workspace Marketplace, and admins can deploy it across a domain.
The move takes Claude onto territory where Google's own Gemini assistant has had a home advantage for over two years.
