Atlassian unveils AMP to make AI agents team players

Atlassian has unveiled the Agentic Multiplayer Protocol (AMP), a framework for AI agents to work alongside humans in the open rather than inside private chat windows.

Announced at the Team '26 Europe conference in Amsterdam, AMP is built around Atlassian's Teamwork Graph. It gives agents the context, visibility and permissions to contribute safely across Atlassian tools and beyond.

CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes said most AI use today is "single player", with one person typing alone into a chat window. AMP aims to make AI teamwork multiplayer, with agents as visible, identifiable participants.

New features include Agent Sessions, which surface agent work in Jira, and Non-Human Identities, which give every agent its own identity. Record for Agent turns a screen recording into Jira work items, while Interactive PR Reviews let agents explain code changes in Bitbucket.

Atlassian also opened its Teamwork Graph, which holds over 150 billion connections, to outside agents through a new CLI and MCP server. The company said grounding AI responses in the graph made results 44 per cent more accurate while using 48 per cent fewer tokens.

Customers performed over 14 million Rovo-assisted actions in the past month, with agentic automations up sevenfold in six months.
