IMD warns of thunderstorms in north, heavy rain in south
New Delhi, October 6: The India Meteorological Department has issued fresh alerts for Tuesday. Northwest India faces thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 50 kmph.
Fairly widespread to widespread rain is likely over the region on October 6 and 7. Isolated heavy rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Hailstorms are possible in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh.
In the south, isolated heavy rain is likely over Tamil Nadu from October 6 to 10. Kerala and Mahe face heavy rain from October 8 to 10. Coastal Andhra Pradesh will see strong surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph.
The southwest monsoon is withdrawing. Its withdrawal line now passes through Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Bengaluru will stay overcast with drizzle through the day and a high of 29 degrees Celsius. Chennai faces moderate drizzle and high humidity with a high near 35 degrees.
