150 Bangladeshis Deported From Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir authorities deported 150 Bangladeshi nationals on October 5, flying them from Srinagar to Bagdogra on a special Indian Air Force flight.

The group was handed over to Border Security Force personnel in West Bengal for repatriation to Bangladesh. Officials said another 150 people are scheduled for deportation on October 7.

Police said the action followed checks that included police verification and comparisons with Aadhaar data. Mismatches were flagged and nationality was confirmed with Bangladesh. The action was taken under the Foreigners Act, according to officials.

Reports say about 4,800 to 5,000 alleged illegal migrants have been deported to Bangladesh through West Bengal in 2026. If Bangladesh refuses to accept any individual, they may be pushed back across the border.

Officials said the group included people detained after routine checks across the union territory. The Jammu and Kashmir police worked with the BSF to coordinate the transfer at Bagdogra. Authorities said the process followed standard procedures, including nationality verification. The second batch on October 7 is expected to follow the same route and handover protocol.
