Nashik Rains Shut Schools; Six Devotees Injured Near Temple

Heavy rains in Maharashtra’s Nashik district have shut educational institutions and flooded low-lying areas, with six devotees injured near the Saptashrungi temple.
Officials said very heavy rain hit near the temple, about 70 km from Nashik city. Water gushed over a protection wall on the return route, and six devotees coming down the temple steps were hurt. They were treated at the temple trust hospital and then shifted to Vani.
Nashik city has seen steady rain for days, pushing up the Godavari’s level. Villagers in flooded areas have had to wade through waist-deep water, with some carrying children and belongings on their shoulders.
The weather office expects more rain over Maharashtra in the coming days. Residents near rivers have been asked to stay alert.
The district administration declared a holiday for schools as a precaution after the rain intensified. Officials said the Saptashrungi temple area received very heavy rainfall in a short period. Relief teams were sent to affected villages, and the injured devotees are reported stable. Farmers in Nashik have also been advised to protect standing crops from the downpour.
