Light Rain Likely in Delhi Today as AQI Stays at 184

Delhi is likely to see light rain on Tuesday as western disturbances move across northwest India, the weather office has forecast. The showers could bring temporary relief from pollution: the city’s Air Quality Index stood at 184 on Monday, in the ‘Moderate’ category.
On Monday, Delhi recorded a maximum of 36.6 degrees Celsius, 2.4 degrees above normal, and a minimum of 23.8 degrees. Humidity ranged between 43 and 90 percent. The expected rain and stronger surface winds should wash out some pollutants, though experts say lasting improvement depends on wind speeds and local emissions.
Skymet’s Mahesh Palawat said the monsoon’s departure and a shift to northwesterly winds make a weather change natural at this time of year. “Morning and evening humidity levels are decreasing,” he said. By mid-October, maximum temperatures should settle between 31 and 32 degrees. Residents can expect a gradual shift toward cooler, drier weather in the coming days.
