Siri AI may face months-long delay in the EU

Apple’s upgraded Siri AI could remain unavailable in the European Union for several more months. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says a delay of around five months would be the best-case scenario.
Gurman made the claim in his Power On newsletter. He said European users could face an even longer wait while Apple negotiates compliance with the bloc’s digital rules. Apple is said to be withholding the upgrade to pressure the European Commission.
The delay affects iPhone and iPad users in the EU. Siri AI is already available to EU users on the Mac. Gurman compared the situation to the earlier delayed rollout of Apple Intelligence in Europe.
The new Siri is a major rebuild. Apple has entered a multi-year partnership with Google under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology.
The partnership will power a more personal Siri that can understand on-screen content and complete multi-step tasks. Apple says the features will still run on devices and its Private Cloud Compute system, maintaining its privacy standards.
