Rahul targets Shah over journalist ‘manhandling’ row

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on October 3 attacked Home Minister Amit Shah on X over Delhi Police’s alleged manhandling of a female journalist at Jantar Mantar.
“Amit Shah ji, where are you?” Gandhi wrote, accusing the police of high-handedness during a protest at which hundreds of people were detained.
Police have registered three FIRs in connection with the protest, two at the Parliament Street police station and one at Connaught Place.
The All India Students’ Association (AISA) issued a statement condemning the detentions and the alleged treatment of the journalist.
The Election Commission rejected claims of dissent within its ranks, amid the political row over the police action. The BJP has not responded to Gandhi’s remarks so far.
Jantar Mantar is Delhi’s designated protest site, where demonstrations are held almost daily under police watch. The three FIRs allege violations of prohibitory orders, and opposition leaders have accused the Delhi Police of acting at the central government’s behest.
