Ohio State honours Martha Campbell for a lifetime of giving

Martha Campbell of Uhrichsville has been named the 2026 Ohio State University Alumni Association's Robert M. Duncan Alumni Citizenship Award winner.
The award recognises alumni who have distinguished themselves through service to humanity and who exemplify the university's motto, "Education for Citizenship", through significant volunteer service beyond their professional responsibilities. It was presented during a September 25 ceremony at the Longaberger Alumni House.
Campbell has dedicated more than 20,000 hours to serving Ohio communities through organisations such as the Joshua Perry Family Foundation, the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. One cause close to her heart is the 2nd and 7 Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes childhood literacy by giving away books and sending student-athletes into classrooms to read with elementary students.
Her commitment to service began with a family tragedy. In 1965, when she was four years old, her father lost both legs in a trucking accident. Community members provided meals, child care and emotional support for six months while her mother cared for him.
"My parents realized they could never repay all the kindness they received, so as a family, we decided to pay it forward," Campbell says.
"Martha's ability to mobilize others for a good cause is truly remarkable," said Ryan Miller, co-founder and board chair of the 2nd and 7 Foundation.
