US strike kills four in alleged narco boat in Caribbean

The US military said on Sunday it killed four people in a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean Sea, in the latest attack of a campaign Washington says targets drug traffickers, Reuters reported. US Southern Command said on X that it had executed a lethal, kinetic strike on a go-fast vessel operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean. The command cited what it called confirmed intelligence to allege the vessel’s active involvement in narco-trafficking, without giving more details. It described the four people killed as narco-terrorists. The military also shared video footage that appeared to show an explosion destroying the moving boat. The Pentagon has refused to release the identities of those killed in the strikes and has not provided evidence of drugs on board, according to the New York Post. Since the campaign began in September 2025, US strikes on suspected drug-trafficking vessels in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific have killed more than 230 people, with the latest strike the 71st, according to a Just Security tally. Human rights experts and groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have condemned the strikes as unlawful extrajudicial killings.
