Ukraine Drone Strike Halts Moscow Oil Refinery

A Ukrainian drone attack has halted crude processing at a Moscow oil refinery after fires damaged key processing units, Reuters reported.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck Russian defence and energy facilities as part of efforts to damage infrastructure supporting Moscow’s war effort.
Russia’s defence ministry said its forces had targeted Ukrainian logistics, port and transport infrastructure, along with communications facilities and vessels it linked to Ukraine’s military. Reuters said it could not independently verify those claims.
The exchange followed days of repeated strikes on energy and industrial infrastructure on both sides. Russia said it had intercepted hundreds of Ukrainian drones over multiple regions.
Local officials in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region said a Ukrainian drone strike killed three people and wounded two there.
Ukraine has continued its long-range drone campaign against Russian oil refineries and industrial sites, aiming to choke off fuel supplies and war funding.
The attacks came despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce strikes on energy infrastructure, with both sides keeping up military operations.
Why it matters: refinery strikes hit Russia’s war economy directly, and each round of retaliation makes energy ceasefire talks harder.
