Ukraine Calls India’s Peace Plan the Most Comprehensive

Ukraine has described India’s three-part peace proposal for ending the war with Russia as the most comprehensive of four plans it has received. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the other proposals came from the United States, Egypt and Turkey.
India’s proposal has three linked elements. The first is an energy truce, a complete halt to strikes on energy infrastructure on both sides. The second is a Black Sea agricultural truce, ending attacks on civilian shipping so grain exports can resume. The third is a ceasefire along the current line of contact.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed on October 5 that India is now in discussions with both Russia and Ukraine, moving beyond simply advocating dialogue. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has very good ideas for a peaceful solution.
Sybiha said India was offering to play a role for the first time. Kyiv has signalled openness to various ceasefire formats but insists any deal must address attacks on energy and port infrastructure. The full text of India’s proposal has not been made public.
